About us

there is more to .... us

timto was formed by two brothers, Luke & Nathan Cornish. We both graduated from University and had successful careers, but decided that we wanted a more dynamic and purposeful careers.

The spark for ‘timto’ came at Nathan’s daughter’s 6th birthday party. Megan received so many presents from her school-friends that it took two giant sacks to carry them home.

The generosity and goodwill of the guests was wonderful, but it made us think about the amount of money that was collectively spent on gifts and the time taken by parents to find ‘suitable’ presents.

School children with presents

Our initial thoughts resonated with friends, so we began our research. We were repeatedly told by parents that many of the presents their child received were duplicated or just remained unused (and stored in the attic). Interestingly, participants also highlighted concerns about the amount of “waste” produced by the plastic packaging and wrapping paper!

The conclusion was that;

  • guests would like to be able to club together to buy ‘special’ presents
  • there was a demand to convert the 'waste element' into something more positive, for example a charitable donation

We soon realised collective giving of gifts in this manner had many other applications to different audiences and age groups.

Therefore we set ourselves the challenge of creating a service that was suitable for people of all ages and occasions that;

  1. enabled memorable presents to be given
  2. collectively by guests,
  3. in a manner that added to the whole party experience.
The solution was to enable a 'celebrator' to add their favourite charity to their gift list and in-effect redirect a proportion of money spent by guests towards a charitiable donation.

The concept of the ‘timto present service’ was born, the name ‘timto’ describes our ethos ’there is more to…
