there is more to ... us

timto is an award winning social gifting platform that makes donating to charity an integral part of any celebration. The service works with a huge range of charities from many different sectors.

timto was launched in 2010 by two brothers, Luke & Nathan Cornish, both graduates from respected universities who wanted to make a difference.

timto aims to raise more than £3m for charities by 2015 by making it fun, easy and attractive for people to give when they celebrate. We hope to prove that there is more to celebrate with timto!

The spark for timto came at Nathan’s daughter’s 6th birthday party. She received so many presents from her school-friends that it took two giant sacks to carry them home. The generosity and goodwill of the guests was obvious, which made us consider how much money had been collectively spent on gifts, especially when gifts remained unused.

Our initial thoughts resonated with friends, so we began our research. Parents repeatedly told us that more than 20% of their child's party presents either were duplicated, unused or even worse thrown out. Interestingly, the amount of 'waste' produced by the excessive plastic packaging and all the wrapping paper was also raised as a concern.

We realised that people were looking for ways to reduce the economic and enviromental waste identified and to channel the generosity towards a more engaging and fun outcome for everyone involved.

Finding a fun solution for all ages and occasions.

We quickly realised that a new approach to collective gift giving is just as relevant to many other types of celebration and across all age groups.

We set ourselves the challenge to create a fun and engaging way for  a) friends to be able to give great gifts together, and b) for a charity to always benefit.

Example: Friends contribute a total of £170 to Lucy's gift list. Lucy spends £150 on an Itouch (from her gift list) & donates £20 to her favourite charity.
