Children’s Hospice South West and children’s play venue PlaySpace are today teaming up to launch an exciting children’s birthday service in the South West provided by timto.
The first of its kind, timto.co.uk, is an online children’s birthday present service that also enables families to donate to their favourite charity when they celebrate a birthday. The unique service lets a child build a dream present wish list using a host of well-known retailers, whilst simultaneously choosing a charity they would like to support. Party guests can add a birthday message and have the option to contribute towards a gift along-aside other friends.
Harry Stevens, the owner of Play space said “We are always looking to find fun ways of adding a new dimension to our birthday parties. The option for guests to now use timto’s service means that we can also help charities such as Children’s Hospice South West, which is a great thing that I am delighted to be able to encourage.”
Nathan Cornish, co-founder of timto said “We aim to make birthdays parties even more fun and bring a real feel-good factor to children’s celebrations. We identified that over £200 million per annum is currently spent on birthday party presents that are never subsequently used. So we hope to help redistribute some of this expenditure towards quality presents and a donation to a charity, such as CHSW.
Kate Fisher, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West said “We are thrilled to team up with timto & PlaySpace on this exciting new idea. All the money donated to Children’s Hospice South West will help us to be able to continue to provide care to over 185 families in the local area at Children’s Hospice South West’s North Somerset hospice, Charlton Farm. Through harnessing the support of the local community, we can help to make a real difference to the lives of life-limited children and their families.’
Nathan Cornish, a father of two children, continued “It’s fantastic to bring together such a great charity and a party venue to make children’s birthdays that extra bit special and in a manner that is fun and heart-warming for everyone involved.

Notes to the editor - timto.co.uk
timto means there is more to …timto is a family business run by two brothers, Nathan (39) and Luke Cornish (29).timto aims to make it easy & attractive for people to act as a global citizen by caring for others and helping the environment. Our revolutionary service enables friends to give ‘better’ gifts together & for a charity to benefit too.
We hope to encourage families to donate to charity when they are celebrating a special occasion. By pairing together children’s charities and play venues we hope to capture the imagination of the local community to become a significant fundraising force.
The company has also been consulted by the UK Cabinet Office regarding how timto can add value to the ‘Giving’ Green Paper, which seeks to boost acts of citizenship by finding new ways to “engage families & introduce children to the concept of giving from a young age”.http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/sites/default/files/resources/Giving-Green-Paper.pdf
We have also just published a report into the impact of the packaging and wrapping of children’s birthday party presents on the environment http://issuu.com/timto/docs/timto_environmental_project_-_final
We are already working with a wide range of charities from the smallest to the largest in the UK. The link provides a series of charity testimonials supporting our unique concept www.timto.co.uk/charity-quotes.
Notes to editor – CHSW (below)
Chief Executive Eddie Farwell and his late wife Jill who had two life-limited children set up the charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), in 1991 and opened Little Bridge House in Barnstaple in September 1995.
CHSW is the only organisation in the South West providing hospice care to life-limited children and their families, in a hospice environment, from across the South West; from South Gloucester, Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Little Bridge House and Charlton Farm offer a real home from home environment, including a main living area that forms the heart and soul of each house, cosy lounges, a messy play room for carefree creativity, a multi sensory room with lights, sounds and textures to soothe and calm, a soft play area for safe, trouble-free fun and a jacuzzi for relieving stiff joins and muscle spasms. Not forgetting the beautiful gardens that surround both houses including the award winning Narnia sensory garden (based on the magical story The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis) at Little Bridge House and the Sunken Retreat (based on JRR Tolkien’s book The Hobbit) at Charlton Farm.
CHSW is now in the process of raising funds through the Precious Lives Appeal to build a third children’s hospice, in Cornwall, called Little Harbour which is due to open in 2011.
Building work for Little Harbour, which is to be sited off Porthpean Rd near St Austell, commenced in Spring 2010.
